One may ask, how is it even possible to get in the Holiday spirit with sunny skies, temperatures in the 70’s, and not an ounce of snow? As an (almost) native Arizonan, I would say that Arizona is very festive, but we celebrate it with a twist.  Of course we have our decorations, holiday parties, and traditional eats, but we often are wearing flip-flops and sunglasses while enjoying these. 

Once again this year, Tempe is the ultimate place to spend New Year’s Eve in Arizona. For the first time in many years, there will be no gates around Mill Avenue, no admission fee, and no street closures around downtown Tempe. Area restaurants and nightclubs will offer entertainment and extended premises for the evening. Radio Disney and the city of Tempe are also partnering to offer family entertainment and children's activities. Fireworks will light up the sky at both 9:00 p.m. and midnight. 

Nothing will make a cold winter day feel better than a home-cooked stew. Executive Sous Chef, Bill Sallade at Tempe Mission Palms, created this recipe that is perfect for Sunday dinner, and will make even better Monday left-overs.
