Wonderful Weddings in Tempe, Arizona
It is that time of the year again, the "busy" season, when wedding planning in Arizona is in full-swing. Tempe Mission Palms prides itself on hosting beautiful ceremonies, receptions, and wedding-related events with unparalleled expertise, so that brides and grooms are able to relax and enjoy their special day. Recently, we had the chance to sit down and talk with our Tempe Mission Palms senior catering manager and wedding expert, Rachelle DeYoung.
TMPH: What is your #1 wedding planning tip for a bride-to-be?
RD: Pick your venue first because it helps everything fall into place.
TMPH: What is your #1 wedding planning tip for a groom-to-be?
RD: Take an active role in planning!
TMPH: What is your favorite thing about weddings and/or receptions at TMPH?
RD: I love that you can hold all of your wedding events here and every one of them can be different. Engagement party on the poolside terrace, rehearsal dinner in the Mission Grille, welcome reception for your out of town guests in the Courtyard, grooms lunch in Harry’s Lounge, ceremony in front of the Courtyard Fountain, cocktail reception on the Abbey Patio, wedding reception and dinner in the Abbey, after party on Mill avenue and farewell brunch in the Cloister! A few years later, call us about the Joshua Tree – the perfect baby shower venue!
TMPH: You are new to TMPH, but you have been in the industry for a long time. What is the craziest or most interesting wedding detail you have had?
RD: "Dia de los Muertos" Wedding… picture a black wedding dress, day of the dead dancers in full face makeup dancing to live mariachis, beautifully hand painted skulls on the tables with vibrant paper flowers and Skeleton statues framing the remembrance table which held photos of loved ones who have passed on and special traits to remember them such as coffee and a cigarette for grandma and an iced tea and playing cards for auntie. This table also held the wedding cake, which was red velvet. It was very unique, but such a beautiful event!
TMPH: What is the most “forgotten” item on the wedding day?
RD: Brides tend to get so busy on the day of their wedding that they forget to eat! It is simple to plan ahead for a small continental breakfast and a deli lunch to be delivered to your room. You can arrange the same thing for the guys, we will just send it to their room so the boys don’t see the bride before the First Look!
