Most of our guests at Tempe Mission Palms Hotel would agree, our bell staff is one of our best assets! Not only do they greet you with a smile, hold the door, and carry your luggage, but they consistently go above and beyond our guests’ expectations. In fact, our bellman Scott, remembered a guest’s name of whom he had not seen for six months – just today! We are lucky to have such a great bell staff at Tempe Mission Palms, as they make both the first and last impression of our beautiful hotel to our guests.
I (Alison Brooks, Social Media Coordinator at TMPH) was lucky enough to catch Scott, Otto, and Tom with a few minutes to spare, and asked them some questions about their busy job:
TMPH: How long have you been a member of the Tempe Mission Palms bell staff?
Scott: 2 years. I’m still in training (he laughs)
Otto: 12 years.
Tom: 19 years!
TMPH: What is your favorite part of being a valet/bell person?
Scott: I like driving all the cars – makes it interesting.
Tom: I get all my exercise right here at work! TMPH: Yes! You most certainly do, as anyone who has watched our bell staff longer than 2 minutes knows that’s a fact.
Otto: Meeting people. We have great guests at our hotel.
TMPH: What are some common requests from guests?
Otto: Washing cars, helping with automobile problems, directions to restaurants, help storing luggage, and of course, our free shuttle to the airport.
TMPH: I have also seen you give out squirts of sunscreen!
TMPH: Do you have any tips for travelers?
Tom: Don’t hesitate to ask us for help, it’s our job! We want to reduce your stress.
Otto: Leave yourself plenty of time, especially when needing to catch your plane home.
